How to Get More 5-Star Reviews

Practical, policy-compliant ways to earn more reviews from happy customers — with no incentives, no gating and no manipulation.

Start with what not to do

Do not offer discounts or gifts for reviews. Do not filter customers so only happy ones are asked. Do not write reviews for customers or buy them. These practices violate platform policies and can cost you far more than they gain.

Ask everyone, at the right moment

The best time to ask is immediately after the job is finished and the customer has seen the result — not days later in a marketing email. A technician asking in person, followed by a single short message with a direct link, outperforms almost every automated system.

Make it take fifteen seconds

Friction is the main reason willing customers never leave a review.

  • Send one direct link, not a set of instructions
  • Ask once, and follow up at most once
  • Keep the message short and human
  • Never suggest what the review should say

Respond to everything

Reply to positive and negative reviews alike, briefly and professionally. How you handle criticism is often what a prospective customer reads most closely.
